Coming Out
A quick twenty year transition timeline. It was a long and sometimes difficult journey to figure who I am, but it was all worth it. Enjoy this short documentary of my journey from 4 years voicing that I’m a girl named Rose to me beatboxing about being hella gay to performing in drag to finally living my authentic life. It does get better. I wish I could tell my younger self that one day it’ll all make sense. One day people are going to understand you and love you so much. Keep on fighting for yourself and focus on loving yourself first. You’re going to go so far and do incredible things. I love you, little Rose.A quick twenty year transition timeline. Tips On Coming Out:
-Take your time. There's no rush. It's okay to be scared, but don't let your fear control you. You may be surprised at who will understand. Love conquers all.
-It's okay to not know how you identify. Test things out or research. If it feels right, dwell on it. It's also okay to change your mind.
-It may be safer to come out to people you are closer to or you think are more likely to be accepting. That way you have a support system in place in case someone doesn't take the information well.
-Don't tell your parents until you're independent if you're reasonably anxious that they'll react poorly.
-Telling people one on one is less pressure for you and allows for more in depth conversation to maximize understanding.
-Give your friends and family time to understand. There are a lot of different emotional processes people need to go through in order to process information.
-If you need help contact a friend, family member, mentor, Trans Lifeline, The Trevor Project, or 911 if it's an emergency
